Japex buys two spot LNG cargoes

Japex said it bought two substitute spot LNG cargoes at significantly higher prices to replace shipments originally due from the Persian Gulf, as the Strait of Hormuz disruption continues. While the company says gas and power supply remain secure, it warned that higher LNG procurement costs and the suspension of output at Iraq’s Garraf oil field could cause a significant drop in profits in fiscal Q1 2026.
