Northern Lights: first LNG-powered LCO2 carrier ready for delivery

Northern Lights JV has completed its first LNG-powered liquefied CO2 carrier, Northern Pioneer, the world’s first of its kind. Built in China, the vessel will transport CO2 from European capture sites to a Norwegian terminal. Part of a four-ship fleet, it features LNG dual-fuel propulsion, type C CO2 tanks, wind-assisted propulsion, and air lubrication for reduced emissions. Additional vessels will be delivered by 2026.
