PetroVietnam Gas moving forward with plans to build new LNG terminal

PetroVietnam Gas is advancing plans for a new LNG import terminal in Ha Tinh province with US partner Nebula Energy. The North Central LNG terminal, located in the Vung Ang Economic Zone, was approved by Ha Tinh provincial authorities in September 2025 and will cost over $1 billion, with an ultimate capacity of 3 mtpa. It will be built in two phases: Phase 1 with 1 mtpa and Phase 2 expanding to 3 mtpa, similar to the Thi Vai LNG terminal. Phase 1 is expected to become operational between 2029 and 2030.
