QatarEnergy reports damage to Ras Laffan complex after missile strikes

Iranian missile strikes on Qatar’s Ras Laffan industrial hub have damaged key LNG infrastructure, with QatarEnergy CEO Saad al-Kaabi saying the attacks knocked out “17%” of the country’s LNG export capacity.  “Two of Qatar’s 14 LNG trains and one of its two gas-to-liquids facilities were damaged” in the unprecedented strikes, QatarEnergy CEO told to Reuters. He added that the damage will sideline “12.8 million tons per year of LNG” for “three to five years,” with an estimated $20 billion in lost annual revenue. QatarEnergy has already declared force majeure, and QatarEnergy CEO said long-term LNG contracts may now be affected for up to five years. Despite extensive damage and large fires at Ras Laffan, no casualties were reported and emergency teams moved quickly to contain the situation.
