Shell, Focol take FID on Bahamas LNG terminal
Shell and Freeport Oil Company (Focol) have taken a final investment decision on a small-scale LNG regasification terminal in the Bahamas, marking the start of a new LNG-to-power project on New Providence island. The terminal will supply natural gas for power generation, replacing fuel oil and diesel while improving energy reliability. Shell will provide LNG from its US supply portfolio after acquiring a 40% stake in the project company, New Providence Gas. According to local media, the terminal is expected to begin receiving LNG in the first quarter of 2027, expanding small-scale LNG infrastructure in the Caribbean.
