Egypt cuts LNG imports amid reduced power plant demand

Egypt has reduced LNG imports by 33% to 500 mcf/per day as power plant demand falls to 3.5 bcf daily, down from 4.2 billion during summer peaks. Additional gas is imported through the Jordan Gas Pipeline at 1.2 bcf per day. The reduction follows domestic production challenges earlier in 2024, alongside resumed payments to foreign energy partners aimed at stabilizing the energy sector.
