Japan’s Osaka Gas launches first LNG unit at Himeji power plant
Osaka Gas has started commercial operations at Unit 1 of its LNG-fired Himeji combined-cycle power plant from January 1, marking the first of two high-efficiency units at the site. The roughly 600-MW unit lifts Osaka Gas’s domestic thermal generation capacity, with Unit 2 scheduled to enter service in May 2026, while fuel supply is sourced from the company’s Himeji LNG terminal.
