MOL gets OK for two LNG carrier designs with sails

Japan’s MOL has secured approval from Lloyd’s Register for two new 174,000-cbm LNG carrier designs equipped with four Wind Challenger sails, jointly developed with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and Samsung Heavy Industries. The sails are expected to cut fuel use by up to 30% per voyage, and detailed construction design work is now underway.
