Osaka Gas to import US-produced bio-LNG from 2026
Osaka Gas has signed an agreement to procure biomethane produced by BP’s Archaea Energy in the US, liquefy it at the Freeport LNG terminal in Texas, and ship the resulting bio-LNG to Japan. OGTX, the company’s US trading arm, will purchase about 26,000 Nm³ of landfill-gas-derived biomethane. The fuel and its associated environmental attributes will be delivered via Japan’s pipeline network for use by Osaka Gas customers in the Kansai region.
