PetroVietnam Gas expands regas capacity at Thi Vai terminal

PV Gas has increased regasification capacity at Vietnam’s Thi Vai LNG terminal from roughly 1.5 mtpa to about 2.5 mtpa, following successful testing confirming stable operations at 288 tons per hour. The terminal, commissioned in 2023 with a 180,000 cbm storage tank, supplies gas to the 1.6 GW Nhon Trach 3 and 4 power plants, which began commercial operations in late 2025. This upgrade comes ahead of peak dry season demand, when gas-fired generation plays a critical role in Vietnam’s power system.
