Qatar expects LNG exports to normalize within weeks
QatarEnergy is preparing to restart LNG exports more rapidly as navigation through the Strait of Hormuz gradually resumes after the US-Iran deal. Despite the Barzan explosion, which Qatar described as a technical accident at a domestic gas facility, Ras Laffan LNG facilities and export capabilities were not directly affected. Qatar could restore about 50% of LNG capacity within one month of safe tanker traffic through Hormuz, and up to 80% within two months. Doha is also pushing for a US-Iran hotline to verify shipping threats and coordinate vessel movements while mines are cleared from the chokepoint.
