Sempra Infrastructure extends ECA LNG commissioning due to compressor damage
Sempra is extending commissioning at ECA LNG Phase 1 after discovering damage in the project’s refrigerant compressors during planned inspections. The 3.25 mtpa plant had started producing LNG in June and shipped its first export cargo earlier this month. Substantial completion is now expected in Q4 2026, instead of summer 2026, with long-term sales starting shortly after. The project will be Mexico’s first Pacific Coast liquefaction facility, with TotalEnergies and Mitsui contracted for combined 2.5 mtpa under 20-year deals.
