Angola’s Sonangol books one LNG carrier in South Korea

Angola’s state-owned energy firm Sonangol has ordered one LNG carrier from South Korea’s HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, according to HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering. The vessel, valued at 251 million$, will be built for Sonangol Shipping Holding and delivered by June 2028. The order adds to Sonangol’s ongoing fleet expansion, including two Suezmax tankers under construction at the same yard. Sonangol is also a shareholder in Angola LNG, which exports LNG from the 5.2 mtpa Soyo plant.
