Argentina to further reduce LNG imports in 2025
Argentina plans to reduce LNG imports starting next year as domestic gas production increases and the Gasoducto Norte pipeline, which began operations in November, supplies more gas to the northeast. LNG import demand is expected to fall to about 25 cargoes in 2024, down from 31 this year and 44 in 2023. Domestic production growth is driven by projects like TotalEnergies’ Fenix field, expected to add 10 mcm/day in 2024, and expansions in Vaca Muerta by companies including Pampa Energia and YPF.
