ENGIE and CMA CGM advance Le Havre biomethane project

ENGIE and CMA CGM have signed a framework agreement to develop a biomethane production facility in the Le Havre industrial-port area.

The facility is expected to supply 7,000 tonnes of biomethane annually, equivalent to 100 GWh, to CMA CGM’s fleet. The announcement targets supply from 2029, with the detailed project timetable indicating 2029/2030.

ENGIE will lead technical design and permitting. Construction and operation remain subject to a final investment decision. Biomethane will be supplied through the European gas grid under a certified mass-balance system.
