Eni and TotalEnergies take FID on Cyprus gas project to supply LNG to Europe
TotalEnergies and Eni took FID on the Cronos gas field offshore Cyprus, with start-up expected in 2028. Production is expected to plateau at around 500 Mcf/d, equivalent to about 2.8 mtpa of LNG. Gas will be processed through Egypt’s existing Zohr facilities and liquefied at the 5 mtpa Damietta LNG plant for export, mainly to Europe. The project should help restart structural LNG exports from Egypt, with TotalEnergies and Eni each marketing around 1.4 mtpa of LNG.
