Exmar targets LNG bunkering market with floating transshipment unit
Exmar has taken delivery of the 146,000-cbm LNG carrier Simaisma and secured a seven-year charter for the vessel. The ship will be modified in dry dock to serve as a floating transshipment unit for the LNG bunkering market. It will receive large LNG cargoes from trading carriers, then reload smaller LNG bunkering vessels supplying fuel to ships. The deal expands Exmar’s floating LNG activities alongside its FSRU and floating storage projects in the Netherlands and Colombia.
